MSD Arrival!

Got a new girl today!!! Only a couple crappy shots since I was too excited to pull out the flash and big camera, but she is amazing! I'm SO happy I ordered her. I put her on pre-order and layaway in November and she arrived today! She is a Dikadoll Monica 43cm bjd with stock faceup (I removed the bad lashes though). She is wearing a Monstro Designs fur wig that fits her perfectly and the 5SD Quintus stock mustard glass eyes. They looked perfect on her!

She has an anime look to her and I was really drawn to that even though I'm not a huge anime fan. I like a few like Serial Experiment Lain, I prefer that style of anime, not the Sailor Moon typed stuff.

Since I qualified for the event head at the time, I picked the Masu sculpt head and will be giving it a faceup soon. She will share my Monica's body until I get around to ordering her one of her own soon.

Custom Commissions

Just wanted to bring this up again, I'm currently not accepting any new people in my custom waiting list and clothing commissions. I'm working on the current list and want to focus on sewing and filling the shop. I have many plans for customs for sale and want to really focus on my own projects.

If you are on my custom faceup list and want to be removed from the list (like you decided to wait or something), please let me know. I am not bumping people around on my list, I want to get the current list done in a timely manner. Thank you guys!

I may still take more reroot commissions but ONLY saran or nylon. No more mohair or alpaca reroots. They are too time consuming and messy for me. I prefer to work with nylon/saran instead.

Clothing commissions: I'm working on the custom requests that are already paid for this week, I'm a tad behind but can catch up in one day. I am not taking anymore clothing commissions right now either, I want to focus on shop stock and such.

Shop Update: Faceplates

Just listed 2 custom faceplates in the shop! One is an RBL and one is an FBL. They come with the backplate as well, just forgot to photograph them.

Also redid my vampire's faceup last night and I love how it turned out! It was a nightmare though, the resin is different than the other resin I've worked on. The pencils would scratch off the previous work and MSC when I did her line work. I was SO aggravated! I ended up hand painting most of the line work on her. But it's done and looks great now! :) Now she needs a name, I'm oddly drawn to some names:

5SD Quintus Box Opening

My 5SD Quintus arrived today! She was supposed to be here tomorrow, but ya, tracking sucked! Also, she was supposed to be a pink skin and blank, but Mint on Card sent me the yellow skin with faceup. I'm totally fine with that to, was hoping for pink skin but her skin is fine to me in this resin to. I plan to redo her faceup this weekend, it's cute but not what I had planned for her. Also, I'm still waiting on her teal wig, hopefully that will be here in a week or so.

I will be doing a body review on her soon, maybe tomorrow if I can swing it. I do plan on sueding her neck/head tonight with the hot glue method. She is strung very well but her head seems to be a bit tight, her legs aren't kicky at all though. I was very surprised, she is fairly hefty in weight and very solid, which I like. More on her soon!

Shop Update: Blythe Sets

Just listed 3 Blythe sets to the shop! Each set comes with a top/dress that has gathered sides using pull strings, the skirt has an elastic band and ruffled bottom. They can be worn together or separate!

Got some good news, my MSC will be here today!!! Yay! I will be finishing up Rossi's two girls, then move on to Christina's girl and Christine's lip carving. Then go from there on the rest I have at the house!

Sewn

While waiting for MSC (you'll hear me say this a lot until it arrives lol), I decided to sew more! I came up with a cute design that was inspired by a dress I found online. I made it to fit MSD and Blythe. It's a little shorter on Blythe than it would be on MSD, but I it suits her well. Each top/dress has gathered sides that are tired off with ribbon or a tick string (not the ric rac shown, all I had on hand).

For Blythe, it will come with a contrasting skirt as shown, so they will be sets. I cut out 4 sets already to list in the shop hopefully this weekend.

For MSD, it will come with a tulle under skirt (still working on that piece). It's a bit longer than the Blythe version, but I wanted it full so it's perfect! Since my MSD girl isn't here yet, I'm sending this dress to my friend Erica for a fitting on her Minifee. So I need to check and see if it needs tweaking and such still. I may try to make a YOSD version of this next to!

Ok, I'm tired of giving my blog posts a title lol So Im still waiting for my MSC to arrive, hopefully by Friday it will be here, this is the first time I forgot to order it and ran dry. Oop's! I'm working on carving faceplates this week though so I can get them ready at least for color.

Carved a BL Mondie tonight, she is now turning into a Monster custom for Meg. I have to say, it was really nice carving a face under the new lights I have on my desk, WOW! So bright and nice!

I also got two faceplates (RBL & FBL) in the mail today, these will be customized and listed in the shop very soon! One will be a monster girl and the other is still in my head for now. They are $70 each and you get a front and back plate. You just simply take your current girl apart, swap out the eyemech and scalp/dome and there you go, instant custom Blythe! They are super easy to open if you haven't opened one before to, I will work on a tutorial this weekend on how to open an RBL and FBL for you guys to!

I am taking commission orders for Blythe Raglan tee's right now. I am only working on 3 customers at a time, but I can add you on the waiting list if you like. I've ordered a Loft style dollhouse a couple weeks ago and it will be here the beginning of Feb (it's back ordered, boo)! So I started collecting furniture and started making some details for the house. Tonight I went through my mom's stash of 1:12 scale miniatures and brought home some neat pieces. I grabbed a bed and tonight I recovered the mattres and made some textiles for it. I made a tiny quilt and pillow! It's perfect for the house, tomorrow I hope to make some throw pillow for the couch I have coming to!

BJD Faceup - Elfdoll Dami

Tonight I did my first "official" BJD faceup! I'm calling it "official" since the Buu's I had were really practice and nothing serious. I'm totally hooked, I loved working on the face. It reminded me of playing makeup with a friend... well, tiny friend lol!

Also got this amazing hoodie in the mail for my Littlefee! It was custom made just for me and I love it!! Some know that I'm really obsessed with Radiohead so I just had to have something Radiohead for my Wonka. I also got a custom made Puki tee with Radiohead on it to, should be here in a week or so! Ahhh! So in love!

Secretdoll Person Ordered!

Today I ordered my first Person doll! Eeee! I really didn't mean to hit the submit button, I was just seeing what shipping would cost and then wanted to leave the screen up for a while to think about it, then got excited and just hit it... then yelled out oh crap! But I'm SO glad I did, wow! I ended up selling my two Muculdoll Buu's to help with the dent in my Paypal account (oop's). I ended up getting the limited Winter "Universe" Person 4!!! I can't wait!! I ordered her new eyes, jeans, shirts and shoes! Found out they fit in Odeco, Mui Chan and some Middie Blythe so I went a bit crazy but I made sure I budgeted it out this time since I have to get groceries, Zoë's party stuff and do shipping. So all is good and I'm SO happy!

Now to think of a name! Since they look SO much like Yoshitomo Nara's girls I'm tempted to go with the name Nara. But here are a few other idea's:

Faceup Price Change

Since I have been SO swamped with new customers and interest for faceups, I need to lift my prices slightly after February. If you are on the list now, you are still at the current price and it won't change. This is just for customers who want to be added to the list after February 1st. So, if you want the current price, get on my list now!

I had a system going for a monthly schedule but I just threw that out the window this morning, it's confusing the crap out of me. So, I'm just doing the regular waiting list. So far the people on there now are for February though (in my head lol), so you guys are ok! Anyone added now will be towards the end of February or early March. I will be taking 2-3 customers at a time though, depending on how many dolls they are sending me. There is no limit anymore either. So if you want to send me 1 doll or 5, thats fine, just let me know the head count when I put you on my list!

The new price as of Februay 1st will be $85 for faceup and not $70. Everyone that is added to my list after the 31st of this month will be put under a marker on the waiting list. Hope this makes sense! :)

Ok, tried to throw the waiting list out the window due to so many cancelations and "can you bump me back a couple time"... but, this is just easier. So, the waiting list is back open for faceups, I still have a reroot waiting list going on and I can take on lip carving & lip coloring commissions anytime!

Here are some new terms though:

For faceups, please have your doll mailed out to me by the 10th of your month. I will send you an email for a reminder, but this will give me time to work on your doll that month and stay on track.
Payment for faceups are due before your doll is shipped to me.
Return shipping is due after I complete your faceup.
I'm allowing 2-3 dolls per customer limit right now and will take a certain amount of customers per month so I can focus on my shop through the month as well.

I have another girl arriving this week! Eeep! She is a Puki Pong, not sure if I mentioned it before but I'm to lazy to check and see. Haha! She took a little side trip to Xhanthi for a faceup before coming home. I hope she doesn't mind me posting this pic here (let me know if you do, eep!). I gave her my idea's and a quick mock up faceup... then she did her magic and made her amazing! She has an aqua color short pixie wig coming as well as a Fairyland magenta colored wig (in case). I'm SO in love!

Day 1: Fresh New Start

So, one of my biggest 2012 resolutions is to loose weight. I want to have a new body by this time next year. I have 94 pounds to loose, but ideally I would like to loose 114 in total. Today is day one, I resigned up for Weight Watchers this morning and already started. I choose Weight Watchers again because it really works for me, I know it doesn't work for some, but for me it works. I lost over 30 pounds my first time on it in around 2 months. Then my little one had to go in for her second cleft surgery and it threw me off track with the worry and stress. I thought I had the motivation a couple months ago but ended up going off track after a week. So today is a fresh new start, new year and new outlook. With Zoë getting bigger and more active (if you can imagine that), I want to be able to keep up with her. It's SO hard to right now, can't get on the floor with her to play, can't chase after her without falling over trying to breath.... and I can't sit comfortable in most armed chairs. That is one of the most embarrassing thing ever to me, going to a restaurant and being uncomfortable sitting or having the table too close to me... and it's a stationary table. So ya, I have lots to work on and change, but I'm excited! It's going to be SO hard! Need to build up my strength and beat it though.

So every Sunday I thought it would be fun to post my total loss (since that is my weight tracking day). I will put up this image and it will have my grand total weight loss in it every week!

Sweet Wonka and Some WIP

Wanted to share some pictures of the current girls getting worked on, I hope to finish their lids tonight so I can get started on the next two tomorrow. I only have a photo of one so far since the picture of the other custom didn't turn out to well. This is an Enchanted Petal (SBL), still need to do her lids like I mentioned but she is near done.

I'll get shots of the others girls tomorrow hopefully done! I'll have to double check to see who will be up next for work tomorrow, I have a line up of girls and now one more on the way, whew! As busy as I am, I truely love bringing these girls to life, I get so excited to reveal them to their owners. Brings me such joy!

Now on to my Wonka! I SO love this girl, holy crap! After I gave her lashes I fell in love with her all over again, she is perfect! Got some sad, yet happy news, I traded my Slinky Neko Borry (Pia) for a Puki Puki Pong! I had a Pong in the past but I just couldn't get past her eyebrows, I'm not a fan of Puki eyebrows... at all! She will be headed later this week from her owner straight to a faceup artist and then home to me. She came with her stock faceup but I might have a faceup spot on Wens. so I'm hoping she can make a pit stop there first, then to me! I can't wait!!

2012 Goals

This year I have been doing a lot of thinking about next year and the goals I want to set. I rarely really put this much effort into a list but it's very important for me this upcoming year. I want to make some big changes with life, health and hobbies.

Health

Loose weight and get to a "normal" weight. I have a LOT to loose, but it will be awesome in the end!
Get in shape and start yoga again. It's been years since I've done yoga.
Eat healthy and stay away from fast food, bad addiction.

Life

Spend more time with family and friends.
Limit my work (customs & reroots) and just enjoy my own collection.
Get more involved with swaps and fun trades, I used to do them all the time.
Work on my plush book that has been on hold for months now!

Hobbies

Try out some new crafts.
Finish projects that I start, I tend to leave things hanging too often.
Work on new things for my shop (clothing and goods).
Again, work on my plush book! :)

These aren't very big things, but they are important to me and things I want to do this year. <3

Commission Update

If you have a doll or scalp here, please read this post! Just want to give you all a heads up on the current status and some reminders.

The first thing, I do not work on dolls during the weekend. I have stated this many times but just want to remind you all. Like any "job", I need days off to so I set these days off so I can sew, spend time with my little one and hubby.

Second thing, I will not rush a job for any reason. If you are in a hurry for your doll, do not send her to me to begin with then. I take my time to be sure she is perfect, all my work is by hand... just me. I do not use an airbrush, I use crushed chalk pastels with many layers... meaning, it takes time. Also, weather may be a factor if it is too cold or wet out, I cannot spray my MSC for layering and sealing. I do not want it to react badly with your doll and ruin a faceup.

Lastly, reroots. Yes I have done a saran/nylon reroot in 4 days before, but I have also taken 2 months to do one to. So please do not expect a reroot in super fast time. I sometimes cannot work on a reroot once a day (which is normally the schedule I do for reroots). I have an almost 3 year old who fights naps lately and nap time was my reroot time. So yes, I'm slow right now lol

Since it was such a busy last week and weekend due to Xmas I'm a tad behind. Not to mention I have been fighting a sore throat for going on 2 weeks now and the weather was rainy for a week (can't spray MSC). So I'm bit behind and slow right now. I have 9 girls lined up at the house for work, I will be working on them this week slowly. I should have updates on a few girls by Friday.

I currently have 2 reroots at the house, one alpaca and one thermal saran. I really hope to get these started this week. Both of you guys are SO awesome and patient, thank you! Sorry I am so behind, I will try to catch up though! :) :)

Did some shots of Pia yesterday while photographing some new shop goodies. Thought they were super cute and loved the editing on them.

I'm really anxious to pay off my MSD girl and hopefully she will arrive to the store soon after. I want her in my hands badly! I'm dieing to photograph her and start sewing for MSD. I'm also really hoping my Doll Chateau Hilary arrives soon to, the wait is killing me! I need to make clothing for her since she won't really fit in most YOSD clothing and I'll be sketching up some idea's for her soon! I've been thinking about getting an SD sized girl, not sure if she would be too big for my taste or not yet. But sewing for them would be a blast! So we shall see!

What I'm working on!

Decided to do a little post about some upcoming goodies in the shop! I'm working on knit scarves for YOSD, Blythe and Lati Yellow size. They are long enough to wrap around your girl a couple times and wide to cover her face if you like. Here is a sneak peek of them, they will come with fringe though, so this one isn't done yet.

I'm also working on leggings and tights for YOSD, Wonka is modeling a pair of tights I made last night. I need to tweak my pattern a bit at the waist and then they will be ready! I'll be sewing over the weekend and hope to have some updates in the shop on Monday!

I also just listed two new tops in the shop and all the sock patterns are listed as well. I will be cutting out more tops today as well! Hopefully my MSD girl will be home soon... well, probably another month or two, but I can hope right? I will start sewing for MSD soon though!

I'm back on track with reroots! I finished two this week, the nylon blend reroot the other day and just finished the Middie reroot last night! It was done in Foxglove Lavender saran with Cupcake Pink saran streaks.

Reroots and Rainy Days

It's been raining all week, we're getting more rain now than we were supposed to get during our monsoon weather! It's a bit clear today but it's supposed to rain the rest of the week. That means, no MSC spraying. So faceups are on hold till it clears up, most likely next week will be a go for that. But one thing I have enjoyed is the fun pictures I could take when it's been gloomy.

I have been working of reroots! I finished the nylon blend reroot the other day and it is ready to ship home tomorrow. I have also been working on the Middie reroot and I'm nearly done, just 2 rows left. Next up is a thermal saran reroot and I'll be working on a white alpaca reroot along side. The alpaca reroot will end up getting dip dyed for an ombre style, I think we're going with pink but it may change when we get to that point!

Socks, Pictures and BJD Challenge #4

Tonight I was in need of some socks for Pia. Since I have no shoes for her yet I needed something to cover her feet and keep them from getting dirty. So I whipped up a quick pattern and jumped on my machine! I wanted a slouchy - comfy look and they are perfect! I'm making a bunch for the shop since they are SO fast to make!

BJD Challenge #4: What/who was the first BJD you ever owned? Do you still own them?

My first BJD I think was a Puki Puki Cupid. I got her in trade and loved her! She was SO tiny and cute. I no longer have her, only kept her for a short time actually. I lost interest in the tiny size fairly quick... then later on got a Puki Puki Lily... sold her after I quit my office job. Then got a Puki Puki Pong earlier this year, but she didn't stay either very long. Is it weird that I may in the future get another one at some point?! I don't know why, maybe I just didn't find the right sculpt for me but I know a choco Puki would be perfect if I could ever get my hands on one!

Now on to some fun pictures I took today of my girls! I almost traded out my new Slinky Neko girl (I know!)... she is SO limited with posing and it was really irking me a bit when I photograph her. But, I just love her look and sculpt so I decided to keep her. I just need to get used to her limitations and treat her a bit different than my Littlefee. She is gorgeous to photograph and has great expression in photographs.

Slinky Neko Borry - Review

Ok, so I've been getting several questions about how I thought of the posing and opinion of the Slinky Neko Borry. I only can compare her to a Littlefee since thats the only YOSD sized girl I have on hand. All the pictures of her are with her new faceup that I did partial (except the picture of her with the face protector on). So here goes, I'll be discussing the packaging, first impression, top to bottom and then my overall review of her.

The Box & Packaging

Very simple, it's a cream pearl box with just their sticker on the top (bottom edge). Pretty sturdy to. She was wrapped in a very cute pillow and then the doll itself was wrapped in bubble wrap. She had foam wrapping on her hands, ankles, neck and around her faceup protector. Very well packed and didn't look as if she would budge at all.

First Impression

I'll be honest, I was a bit disappointed at first. Her faceup was done very well but she was TOO blushy. She had red/rose blush cheeks and on her chin which I found odd. It looked as if she had a terrible nasty cold. So almost immediately I removed her blushing, then ruined her bottom lashes so had to redo her faceup from the under eyes and down, but I kept her top eye makeup and eyebrows (whew!). After redoing her faceup a bit I was very happy with her!

She came with an extra pair of hand (closed fits), a black bunny backpack that was part of a current event, a wig and eyes. She was supposed to come with the full xmas event gifts (mittens, cape and scarf)... but did not, so I sent them a message regarding this since I qualified for all of the gifts at the time. Little irked about that though.

Head

Her head... lets see. Her headcap is very secure, the magnet is very large and strong so it doesn't fall off at all. You have to give it a nice pull, which I like!

Her eyes came in brown (not all will come in brown, same with wig).

The eye putty is actually fairly nice, I liked it.

As far as movement, it's very limited. She came with a rubber piece that sits on her neck and under her head (slipped over her S ring). I took it off to see if it would help her head move more, but it made it worse as she could not hold her head in a pose so that is why it is there. she can look down very well and turn her head from side to side, but having her look up is limited, it only budges a tad.

Her neck is very long, almost giraffe like. It doesn't bother me, in fact I think it makes her very unique!

Torso

Her chest has some nice posing and it holds really well! She can side lean from left to right pretty well, it's not crazy far like some dolls but it's good for me.

She leans back really well and holds it perfectly!

She can slouch forward a bit, I wish she was able to slouch a bit more.

Body Look and Design

Her body is very straight and stiff like. She squeaks a bit when posing and I actually like that for some odd reason. It is very sturdy. Her stringing is perfect, no kicking or anything (at least with my girl).

Her backside is a bit funny, her butt is so funny shaped. It's almost as if she is tightening her butt cheeks!

She stand very well and quickly, no fudging around her body to get her to stand and stuff.

Hands, Feet and Limbs

Her hands are quite large for her body. This was one of the reasons I liked this doll, I'm drawn to large like hands. They have great motion and hold the pose great.

Her feet are normal YOSD sized feet and also hold and pose very well. They point down great but only point up a tad.

Her arms and legs are not double jointed, so are limited in posing. Just simple bending.

Her upper thigh has a turning spot. It helps her turn her feet inward or outward for posing. It is a bit annoying when making her sit since it pops open really easy, so you have to hold the leg and upper thigh area when sitting her. But it clicks together insanely easy with not even a touch, so it's not too bad.

Posing

Her posing is quite limited as far as Littlefee standards, but I knew this in advanced. Nothing beats a Fairyland pose! o as long as you are aware of this ahead of time you will not be surprised.

She can sit on the edge of a table and with her knew not bent easily. Her back is very straight and she doesn't fall backward at all.

I also got her to sit on her knee's very easy, I like this pose and will use it again in pictures for sure.

After a couple minutes of tweaking and messing with her balance I was able to get her to stand on one foot! So you can see she is quite balanced and sturdy... even though I tried not to breath while taking this picture lol

Overall Review

On a scale of 1-10, 1 being crappy and 10 being really great... I would give her an 8 but a 7 for posing. I'm really happy with her and don't regret getting her at all! She is quite unusual and fun! I rate my Littlefee a 10, but we're not reviewing her lol

If I could change anything about her it would to make her body double jointed, her neck to have more range of motion as well as her chest. Also, her faceup to have WAY less blushing and none on her chin.

Good things I like about her, she is unique and holds her poses very well. Love her eye makeup and the wig she came with, got lucky and got the dark brown like I wanted... as well as the brown eyes. So yes, I'm very happy with her even though she is a bit limited in posing.

Meet Pia!

So, my Slinky Neko Borry was not supposed to be here until tomorrow or even Monday... but she arrived today! Yay! I was beyond excited when the guy came to my door, almost shaking with excietment! After opening the box up and unwrapping her, I'll admit I was not 100% pleased. Her face was WAY over blushed... like WAY! I wish I had taken a photo of it. They gave her a dark red/rose blushing on her cheeks and chin... odd. So I got this crazy idea that I would remove the blush and add on some lighter blush to her cheeks and all would be perfect. Well, it ended in near panic but I fixed her and now I love her!

I'm doing a review in the next post of the Slinky Neko YOSD size to! So check for that in a bit!

Custom EBL Skate Date

My latest custom girl is done! She is an EBL Skate Date. I kept her Skate Date color theme to hold onto the charm but recarved her lips and gave her freckles on the sides of each eye. She was so fun to work on and turned out adorable! I now want one! It was so nice to work on an EBL again, I just love them to death!

I do! I currently own 2 Muculdoll Buu's (one in normal skin and the other in tan), a Littelfee Lewi... I have a slinky Neko Borry on the way (literally) and a Dikadoll Monica on layaway. She won't be here until Jan/Feb though. And as of yesteday, I have another girl coming, a Doll Chateau Hilary! She will be here in about 2-3 months as well.

I have a few more on my wishlist: Dollfactory Pepe, Pipos Basic Cheshire, Littelfee Bisou and Flora, Minifee Luka and I wouldn't mind a DIM Jullis on a girl body.

Whoo hoo! I was asked to be the feature artist for an issue of Doll Customizer magazine a while back, the magazine was a bit delayed due to printing issues but it's out!! I'm in the August issue and my custom doll is on the cover as well! I nearly died when I saw it in the mail yesterday, ahhh!!! You will be able to buy it at DollCustomizer.com soon! I would say a couple days to a week ro so it will be available I hope!

Random Post and BJD Challenge #1

Been rerooting off an on this week, hoping to finish one (if not 2) by Friday. I'm also working on an EBL Skate Date off and on, will work more on her Friday. Friday seems to be the night for customs, I get to relax more and stay up late.

Last night we set up the tree and started decorating for Xmas!!! Yay! Now I'm fully ready for Xmas and enjoying the season! I still need to put the lights up in the windows, but I will get on that this weekend for sure! I ove Xmas, Zoë is going to have a great one this year! Now that she is closer to 3 (next month), she really knows what is going on and who Santa is. She is SO excited! Been watching Xmas shows round the clock haha!

I did a quick little photoshoot of my bjd's and decided to start the BJD Challenge! The first question is: Why do you like BJD's?

I'm fairly new to the BJD world, but I have had several through the last 3 years so I'm not completely new. I love BJD's for several reasons... for one, I do a lot of photography, just for fun. I find BJD's amazing to photograph! Being able to pose them and make them look realistic in photographs is beyond fun for me! Other than photography, I just love the many sculpts and companies. All are SO different!

I was at Walmart yesterday and scored some toddler tee's with stripes! Perfect for dolly clothes! They were on clearance for $1.50 each!!! Total score! I can't wait to get the rest of my knits here so I can cut into them!

Last thing I want to post about is that I jumped back on WW yesterday! I started yesterday as well but it was mid day so today is the main first day (again)! So far, so good! I have close to 30 points left for dinner (holy crap!) so I get to have some larger snacks today. Picked up some groceries for me and snacks, love WW snacks by the way! I have not had a WW snack or food that I didn't like yet!

Commission Update

Just wanted to give a quick update on my current status with reroots and faceups as well as a shop update for today!

I currently have only 1 Blythe here for a faceup, she is an EBL Skate Date! I am opening her up today and will start her sanding and carving this evening! I'm hoping to start color work tomorrow, if not tonight! I have a few girls on the way and I will update their status when they arrive! :)

I have 3 reroots here (yes, 3!). I'm working on the nylon blend reroot today and will be also working more on the Middie Blythe reroot. Once I finish both of these I will be starting on a thermal reroot for Meg right after! I have about 5 rows left on the nylon blend and hope to knock out 2 rows today on that one. The Middie reroot's partline is fully done and I have started on the crown. I hope to have the crown finished and at lest 2 rows in on the field (middle area)!

Today I finished up 5 YOSD tops that will head to the shop today! They are SO cute! I'm currently also working on Blythe sized tops and Lati Yellow, just need to tweak my measurements and work up a test top still. So stay tuned for those items!

I am closed for sewing, knitting and crochet commissions but am still taking faceups and reroot work! I have a little waiting list going but I can add you down if you are interested in that! :)

Got some fun news today, my Slinky Neko Borry shipped out today! Yay! I'm hoping to have her in my hands by Saturday (fingers crossed)! I will now have 2 YOSD girls in the house! I can't wait to see her in person, I have yet to see a half open eyed Borry online, just store photo's. Also, she is sold out! Right after I sent payment for my girl they put up sold out on her listing, maybe I was the last order perhaps? So glad I ordered her in time! Also, I just sent over a big payment chunk on my MSD girl who is on layaway. I hope to have her paid off either this month or next and hopefully she will be shipped out in January! Double yay!

Because she is not factory made, she is not 100% perfect, as with all custom dolls. Her scalp was Rit Dyed

so her scalp edge has a tad of discoloring (more so in the back under her hair). Also, she came to me over

boggled so I removed her bottom arcs on her lids. This is not really a flaw since it does not effect anything

but make her eyes more bright but I wanted to disclose this anyways.

Plugging Away

Been working on reroots almost daily and sometimes at night now. Started a Middie Blythe reroot late last night... just because I was so excited since it was so small! Ended up finishing the partline and barely started on the crown.

Making more progress on the nylon blend reroot, I think I counted 5 rows left! Woo hoo! I noticed I work slower depending on the colors I'm working with. Darker colors tend to slow me down as well as solid reroots. I love reroots where every row is a different color (like a rainbow one I did before here). I'll be bring this reroot with me today when I visit my parents, Zoë is going to help decorate my moms tree while I reroot at the coffee table.. it's my version of fun lol! Maybe I'm crazy, but I love rerooting!

Knit, knit, knit

Since Zoë hasn't been taking naps lately, I've been trying to fill the time she is awake with knitting! I normally reroot during nap time, but I'm having to reroot at night now. Ack! I'm working on a shop update for around the 10th or so and I'll be sure to take some sneak peeks as I go!

Here is a striped sweater in progress for YOSD sized dolls, I want to make several YOSD sweaters, Lati and Blythe. We all know that our dolls can't be cold for the winter, right? haha

Speaking of rerooting, I have several reroots lined up now that have just arrived, eep! I'm hoping to finish the current one by next week (yes, I will finish it)! I'm starting on a Middie Blythe reroot tomorrow, while I make alpaca plugs for another... then when I finish the Middie, I'm starting a thermal reroot for a custom girl I'll be doing a faceup for next. Did I tell you I was busy? haha! I have several dolls coming in that I will be working on and listing, some after the holidays to!

Also... I'm working on some jersey knits for the shop! Yay! I drafted out a top pattern and have reworked it several times, I'm now very happy with the finished look and will start on those hopefully this weekend or next week. Here is a sneak peek of the style, it's an "off the shoulder" wide necked top that has a velcro closure in back. Other than these tops, I will be making socks for YOSD and Lati, as well as some Lati tops and leg warmers for both sizes to!

Also, enjoy some new pictures of my Littlefee Lewi! I still have yet to name her, she has two wigs coming by the weekend (black and pink), so I will wait to see which wig I like best and to see her with her new eyes (still waiting on those too) before I name her! I can't tell you enough how much I adore her! She is AMAZING!!

Dolly Knitting

Finally finished my first knit for YOSD dolls! I worked up this prototype sweater based off my Blythe sweater pattern and it's perfect! I'm already working on another sweater and hope to have a few to list in the shop soon! I also ordered a new wig for my Littlefee (who is still nameless right now), it's a pink fur wig for now until I can get a better one. I think pink is her color, I originally planned to make her gloomy and in black, but it's just not her.

Littlefee Arrival!

My first YOSD sized doll arrived today, a Littlefee Lewi! I got her in trade for my last custom. She did not have the stock faceup, it was a custom one... then I reworked it and love her! She is a white skin, hard to tell in some pictures, but she is ghost pale in person lol Love her to pieces, I have never seen a Littlefee in person before and I'm in awe at their posing! She will spoil me until my Borry arrives, their posing isn't anywhere near as amazing as this but it's ok. :)

I'm still waiting for her eyes and wig to arrive, so ignore the creep factor lol But I'm so happy about how her faceup turned out, it's way different than I had imagined I would do it, but it's totally fine by me! Love it!

This afternoon I got the house alone for a couple hours so I put on Truedblood (season 1) and worked on two faceups! They are both nearly finished, just waiting approval to see if I will be adding freckles or not. I have several girls arriving this coming week, so stay tuned for some new work soon!

Reroots and Dolls

Making more progress on the current reroot, I have about 8 rows left and I really plan to get this one finished in the next several days. The colors look so awesome, Coco picked out a great blend! Next up I have a Middie reroot, saran blend and a mohair! Busy, busy!

Just had to share these sweet pictures I took of Beetle and Toast today! I truely love these two and they are both so different from one another. I need to redo Toast's faceup in the near future but for now she looks perfect as is! I got new brushes and I'm anxiously awaiting two bjd's to arrive! So excited! Today while I was pondering names for the two coming, I got to thinking that I need a pink girl! I want either a 16cm or YOSD sized girl with a pink wig, eyes and faceup! I see it in the future for sure lol!

Reroots and Cheesecake (yes.. cheesecake!)

I've been plugging away slowly at the nylon reroot, I made great progress today though! I'm hoping to get this reroot done in the next few days since I have a Middie reroot coming and a reroot for Sherri Dupree (Eisley anyone?). More on the fun reroot for Sherri soon, I feel so honored to be doing some Blythe work for her soon!

So yesterday we had to make the family runs for the turkey day... first off, I can't wait to have holidays at our place when we get a bigger house. It will be a couple years till then, but I'm looking forward to it! Anyways, my father in law used to be a chef and catered more in baking (he's an amazing cook!), so he made pies yesterday... a cherry pie, apple pie (omg!), pumpkin pie and... cheesecake! the cheesecake was AMAZING! I'm a sucker for cheesecake, iced coffee and anything chocolate. I'm pretty sure I have some serious chocolate problems, I tend to even sneak it in the car while driving, I can't get enough chocolate! Oh and I have a bad addiction to chocolate milk. What can I say, I'm a sugar fiend!

Also, I ventured into the crowds today to get false eyelashes (for customs) and a few other supplies including a mask, whoo hoo! I managed to survive Black Friday and came home with lots of goodies for customs! I'm trying to get more practice with bjd faceup's and I have a Littlefee Lewi coming for myself this upcoming week, she will need a new faceup and I plan to mimic the stock Fairyland Lewi faceup. So I got some new brushes and one came in the mail today to, score! Can't wait to get to work on my Lewi, I already have the vision of this doll and I'm super excited to finally get a Littlefee!

Thought I would just share these little pictures I took of Beetle tonight, too cute! I'm waiting for my Borry to arrive soon! Ahh! I'm dieing!

Also, wanted to give a quick post on commissions status and where I'm at right now! Been working hard on customs and I'm trying to get caught up on rerooting. I'm still plugging away on the nylon reroot, hope to make big progress tonight though! I need to get this one done!

As for custom's, I finished the Middie Blythe and 2 faceplates are nearly done, just need to add a bit to them, work on lids and adjustments. Just got 2 faceplates in the mail for carving only, I plan on carving them up tonight to get them done and back to the customer. Here are some sneak peeks of the girls I worked on last night!

First Middie Blythe Custom

Since carving a couple petite Blythe's, carving her tiny mouth was fairly easy and fun! She has some light freckling around her eyes and across her nose, I still need to seal the freckles in when I do one last MSC spray on her. Love her so far!

I have been busy ALL day, with handling Zoë to working on dolls. I finished a custom this weekend and just got a girl in the mail today, a Middie Blythe! This sweet little one is beyond words! She is smaller than a Neo Blythe but bigger than a Petite Blythe. SO cute! She will be getting a fresh new faceup, her alpaca reroot was not done by me though. One day I would love to reroot one!

A little update on reroots.... I'm working hard on getting the current nylon blend reroot finished, so I hope to make great progress by the end of the week! I should have more pictures again soon!

Commission Payments

On top of trying to keep better organized, I have decided to start sending out invoices for payement rather than having you send the payment to me. I'm also working on a little custom/reroot form for the customer to fill out and email back. I will then print this out and store it in a bag with you doll and things you send. To kind of keep it all together and let me stay organized. All the bags will be hung on my studio wall in order that they are received, I can see what I'm working on and where I'm at on each doll.

I have sent out a few invoices this morning for upcoming work, they are the flat $70 custom fee. It does not include chip change, lid art, special carving (vampire) and SBL head opening. The fee's for those will be extra once we have discussed what more you would like done. I will be adjusting the price soon to include all of this for the start of the year.

Worked a bit on Posey, I'm still awaiting approval but wanted to post some pictures of her. Hubby showed me how to properly use a flash and I'm in love. I want to photograph everything now!

Had a super cute mail day today to! Got these cute panda maryjane's for my yosd Borry! Can't wait to finally get her in the mail! They are shipping her out any day now, so I hope to have her home in about 2-3 weeks! Waiting is killing me!

Commission Update

I used to do this on Monday's, then stopped doing it when I finished the customs and such. But, I think I'll try to do a commission update 1-2 times per week. This is for those who have dolls at my house getting worked on, reroot commissions and custom dolls that will be up for sale and such.

Also, I will post a image on flickr letting you guys know when there is an update on the blog for this to!

I have a lot fo customs headed my way! Some are commissions, trades and some will be for sale soon! What I have in front of me this weekend:

- Faceplate for Mab: Currently sanding and carving. Should be good to add color tomorrow or possible tonight.

I'm working on a nylon blend reroot for Coco, I'm still at the part rows but hope to finish the partline by Monday. I should have some photo updates on that by Monday and they will be on flickr and possibly here.

In transit I have roughly 3 Blythes that will be customs for sale soon. I know one is a Friendly Freckles and I think the other is a Simply Peppermint (I must try and resist this one! lol). The other is unknown as of yet. I will be sure to post sneak peeks once I get these girls started but it may be another 2 weeks until you see something, so keep an eye out!

Other than custom Blythe's, I have been toying with bjd faceup's and have several heads "headed" my way (I know, that was cheesy). Once I finish these guys and feel more comfortable and confident I may open up to bjd faceup commissions, but will only take one at a time slowly. So if this is something you might be interested in, I will post when this option is available! :)

Spreading my wings a bit

I've recently fell hard for bjd's... I mean, I've owned a few in the past (Pukifee and Puki) but never really gave bjd's a thought to much other than "oh, so cute". But ya, I am falling hard for them! I already have my two Muculdoll Buu's, which are Lati Yellow Size (around 16.5cm tall). Recently I ordered my Slinky Neko which is around 25cm (yosd size)... and then the other day, I put a msd sized girl on layaway at Mint on Card! I got a Dikadoll Monica and I'm super excited! She is amazing and I have some fun plans for her, I might be redoing her faceup but not sure yet until I see her in person. Here she is:

I have plans to order a few more bjd's and I think I will be content for a bit... until I lust after another I'm sure! Other than a new obsession, I decided to give bjd faceup's a go and try it out! I'm in love, it's different than Blythe faceup's and I love how detailed I can get when doing them compared to Blythe. I redid Beetle's faceup and tonight I redid Toast's faceup to!

As for customer right now, I'm pretty full. But I will be taking more faceups for Blythe soon once I finish the current ones on the way to me. I am also doing some bjd head faceups for more practice right now as well! :) Have a good weekend! <3

Doll Scarf Pattern - Crochet & Knit

While waiting for my new yosd girl to arrive, I decided to whip up some cute scarves! Thought I would share these quick knit and crochet patterns with you guys! You can adapt them to work on any doll, just experiment with hook, & needle sizes with different yarn weights! :)

Knit Scarf (on the left)

Size 2 US straight needles
Fingering weight yarn (sock yarn)

CO 6 stitches

Work 2 rows of garter (knit each row)

Row 1: Knit 1, *YO, knit 1* repeat to end (you will end up with 11 stitches on the needle now)

Row 2: Knit across while dropping your YO's (you will end up with 6 back on the needle)

Repeat these two row's until your scarf is as long as you want it to be, mine was about 16-17" long since I like them longer for my dolls.

Cut 12 pieces of yarn that are about 3-4" in length. Then slip knot 6 on each side of the scarf edge.

Crochet Scarf (on the right)

Size C hook
Fingering weight yarn (sock yarn)

Chain 7

Row 1: Starting the 2nd chain from the hook, DC into each stitch then chain 2 and turn.

Repeat this row over and over again until your scarf is the length you like, mine was about 17" long.

Cut 12 pieces of yarn that are about 3-4" in length. Then slip knot 6 on each side of the scarf edge.

So last week was so busy, I didn't even have a chance to do the Midweek Favorites, sorry guys! So last week I decided to sell my Blythe, Chuck. It was so sad but it had to be done. In exchange I was able do some xmas for Zoë, grocery shopping and had enough left to buy a new girl! Ahhhh! So excited! i've caught the bjd bug bad, I had it a little bit last year but it didn't really bite me too hard. This time it's different and I finally ordered my first yosd sized bjd! I ended up going for the girl I've been lusting over for a bit now, she is a Slinky Neko Borry (half open eyed version)! I can't wait to get her in my hands, I already have my eyes on another yosd that I might put on layaway if I can make some more shop sales this next week. The other girl is a 5 Star Doll Quitus.

17 Down 13 To Go!

Last night I stayed up, no idea why, and finished two more blocks! I'm not sure why I was so anxious to stay up till 1am, I could barely keep my eyes open while sewing. Glad I did though because these two blocks turned out amazing!

I would like to add that I am very happy Conrad Murray got the GUILTY verdict today!

This afternoon I whipped up a super fast frayed scarf for Chuck! I have a few more larger scraps that I may turn into Blythe projects like a mini quilt and more scarves. She is too cute, her eyes remind me of sparkling diamonds here. I love this set on her!

Three More Blocks!

Just got done with three more farming blocks! The Homemaker block scared the living crap out of me, it was my first Y seam and I lived to blog about it! The first seam was the easiest, then by the last seam... not so great. You can see a little problem spot on the bottom left of the center square, but I'm happy none the less! I think once the quilt is quilted you won't notice a bit! The other block I had issues with was the Night & Day block, they ended up being more diamond shaped than square, so I had to square them off and lost 1/5" all around, so I think I'll sash it in some black and white stripe fabric, shhh... don't tell!

Here are all the blocks together again! I'll keep taking a picture of them together as I go for fun, I love seeing it grow! I'm at the 1/2 way point now if I choose to do only do 30 blocks. We shall see, I might keep going and do more (6x7 block = 42 in total).

The high light of my day was getting my new Craftster t-shirt in the mail! Well, it came yesterday but I didn't check the mail. My last one is falling apart badly and it was the skull with the knitting needles, but this time I got the skull with crochet hooks! So happy! Please note the no makeup and bad hair lol

Started on my next cross stitch, not feeling too great today so it's been a nice relaxing evening. Went over to my inlaws to pick Zoë up and she had a blast! We are now home and she asleep in my arms while I type. Hoping to put her in bed here soon so I can get back to my cross stitch and make some hot chocolate, yum!

Today we got the house to ourselves, meaning, Zoë went to her grandparents house to visit! I always want a little kid-free break, but the moment she is gone, I go crazy! She is having a blast though. The weather has been so nice today so Bob and I headed up to grab lunch and run some errands.

Ran over to Joann's to get more cross stitch fabric and now I'm ready to start the next pattern, can't wait! Just look at the color palette for this one!

Now that we are back home I'm going to pick out the next 4 farming blocks to cut out and work on my cross stitch... maybe cuddle with the kitties! They have been lazy all morning and look squishy than ever!

More Farming!

Last night I got another 4 blocks done! WOOT! I now have a total of 12 blocks done and I think my new goal is 30, that way I can do a 5x6 block layout with 3" sashing between the blocks, throw on two borders (maybe 2" and 3") and bind! It will be about the same size as the lap size in the book and I can keep the blocks normal and not angled. I fussy cut a few blocks without thinking about that they were supposed to be angled, oop's!

All the blocks together so far! Took this morning in the freezing cold... well, not freezing to some of you but I live in Arizona, so 48 degree's is freezing to me. It will be in the mid 60's all week minus a few 70's here and there. Perfect weather!

It's been stormy lately (yesterday and today so far) and awesome! We haven't got much rain this year so this is perfect for staying indoors with hot chocolate and sewing!

Here are the blocks I did last night, sorry for the crapTASTIC pictures. I used the toilet seat for late night picture taking lol! The toilet seat clearly didn't do these blocks justice and I picked the wrong filter to use on a few, oop's! I was tired and sewing in dim light, not to bad on the points though!

Ok, didn't want to edit the last post again and throw this in there so I decided to start a new post. I finished sewing up the last of the three cut out blocks from this morning! I love it! I can't seem to shake my Halloween spirit so I made a spooky block with the prints from the Ghastlies! Love, love, love! I'll try to get an outdoor pic of the finished 8 blocks today! Zoë is about to crash for a nap, so I'll be looking for the next blocks to start cutting out! Eep, I'm addicted to farming!

This morning I cut out 3 more farming blocks! I'm loving this book, it's so fun! The blocks are so simple and I'm having a blast choosing out the fabrics. I'm not doing the traditional style quilt, I'm just picking the fabrics that call out to me for each block. Kind of a scrappy quilt I guess and I love it!

I need to get a group shot of the blocks today after I finish the last one I cut out this morning, it's a Halloween block! I guess I'm still in the Halloween spirit! I have some more fabric coming in the mail to this week, it's been coming in nearly everyday. It's like a mini christmas to myself!

I got the book The Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt yesterday and just had to dive in! I saw that you can make different quilt sizes with the blocks instead of just the one size with all 111 blocks. You can do a lap, twin, queen and king quilt. I'm going to do a lap quilt since I have little space and a standard machine, it will be easier to quilt in the end and cut.

I started two blocks so far! I plan on cutting more blocks out today to!

So I realized I wasn't doing 1/4" seam allowance on my quilt blocks... this whole time for a couple years! Ack! I always assumed the edge of my standard foot was 1/4" and even measured it, but it always seemed to be a hair or two off. I would always just trim the blocks down and have smaller blocks, which were fine for me. So last night I finished the Autumn Tints block and they are supposed to be 6" blocks... it was 5.25" in size and I wanted to figure out what I did wrong. I cut the templates out exactly and made sure my sewing was perfect. Then I decided to look in my bag for other feet and found a 1/4" foot?! Tested it out and the seam allowance was spot on! So I recut out the first block and whipped it up with the new foot, it came out perfect. Why did it take me all this time to finally figure out my seam allowance was off?! Here are the two blocks, you can clearly see the size difference. I'll make a mug rug out of the reject block and list it in the shop soon.

This morning I made a Thanksgiving chain with Zoë! I'm trying to get her involved in crafts around the house. I did most of the work, she handed me the colors lol. My friend Heidi has a book out that I need to pick up today, it's called Every Day's a Holiday by Heidi Kenney.

On top of sewing, reroots and crafting... I'm trying to squeeze in some reading time. I really want to get through this stack of books (I'm adding Geek Love to the stack soon to)! I want to read Damned first, then make my way down. Oop's, I have the first Sookie Stackhouse book 1/2 read somewhere to! Maybe I should finish that book first since I have book two waiting for me on the Kindle. Ack!

Coffee Addict

Just listed 8 coffee cozies in the shop! I'm a roll today! These cute cozies are made from my quilting scraps and all come with a velcro closure.

I was working on some hexes earlier and thought it would be cute to pick out my favorite ones from my bin and make a flower to put on my shirt. Then I got the idea to sew it onto my messenger bag! I ironed the hand sewn flower, then removed all the paper pieces. Then I pinned the flower in place and top stitched it down around the edges on my machine. Love it!!

Shop Update and Other Things

Just moved all my Blythe and Lati goods off my current shop to a new location... I know, again? I was trying to keep my Milky Robot name, but not have them on my Milky Robot shop. So I came up with the idea of opening up a shop called Milky Robot Dolls! Works perfectly! Come check out the doll shop here or click the button to the right.

I just added new skirts to the shop!

Here is the stack of fabric that arrived the other day, I only cut into one print so far. I hate cutting into new fabric because then it goes so fast it seems. Still debating if I want to cut some out for the Swoon Quilt.

Also, here is better pictures of the Kindle case I made last night! It fits all Kindle models except the Kindle DX. It features a button closure and fully lined! Just added it the shop here.

Hexies, Dancing Queens and Cross Stitch

Finished my Happy Garlic cross stitch this morning! It's so cute! Now I need to find a little round frame for it and start on the next one. The pattern is from Andwabisabi.

I also got my sewing space in order yesterday and all ready for sewing! I whipped up another Kindle case, just couldn't resist cutting into some new fabrics I got in the mail the other day! This one will be in the shop today, just need to rephotograph it with the big camera.

Pulled out my hexies and started sewing some together this morning! I haven't touched this thing in a year or so. Once you pick it up, it becomes addicting again... then you get tired of it and store it away. One day I would like to finish it, sash and bind it, then give it to Zoë later on. I wanted something handmade to pass down to her and so on, kind of start an heirloom piece in the family, you don't see that too often anymore.

Lastly, look at my little girl dancing in the green grass. Too cute! We don't go outside very often in Arizona when the Summer is here, so the weather is finally getting cool enough to hang out outside! Tomorrow will be 82 and the rest of the week will be low 70's and 60's!

Zoë is all dressed up and ready to trick or treat tonight! My mom made her costume, she used to make mine all the time when I was growing up. This year she is a Nature Faerie! :)

I even dressed Chuck up today for Halloween hehe. She is a beat up monster and has a little bandaid across her forehead, too cute! Chuck is the last girl in the house now and has actually been with me the longest out of any Blythe I've had (wow). I got her in May, didn't realize it.

I started this super cute cross stitch last night, I'm further along now than this picture. Took this early this morning. It's been a while since I did cross stitch, forgot how much fun it is!

What I'm working on!

I finished my last two customs on Friday! I will be taking a break for a while, having some trouble with the MSC spray and my breathing lately so I need to step back for a while.

Still plugging away on the white nylon reroot. Trying to catch up! I'm starting a new work schedule today and for here on out, I will only be rerooting during the week days (mon-fri) and only during Zoë's nap time. So about 2-3 hours a day, it might slow me down a bit but I feel better doing this so I can spend more time with Zoë. She has been interested in crafts and such lately, so I've been anxious to show her some new things here and there! :)

I'm working on some shop stuff here and there. Not to many things are on the burner right now for the shop, been busy lately with family and home stuff.

I'm getting ready to start a new quilt, whoo hoo! I got my sewing bug back so I plan to sew a lot right now! Other than sewing, I started a new cross stitch and will be posting some pictures of that later today!

Swoon Quilt Plans

I've been wanting to do this quilt since I saw Amanda's finished one here. It's amazing! I love Halloween and have been wanting to do a Halloween quilt for a while, but I'm sticking that on the back burner (I must have a lot of projects burning by now) lol!

Here is the plan for my Swoon. Since it's 80" x 80" and might be too big to handle in my little machine, I can do it but it would be a pain, I'm planning to do just 4 blocks and have it be 48" x 48. I want to sash the top to make it slightly bigger. But I think it would be a nice lap quilt size when done. Here are the fabrics I picked, I wanted it to be somewhat "scrappy" with all my favorite colors and prints.

I've been in the mood to quilt and sew lately like crazy, so I'm also picking up the book The Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt today! I figure I can make all the blocks one by one here and there with all my scraps and such. Would be fun! Maybe even do it as a year project and do 9-10 blocks per month, could be interesting!
